Same corner, same fridge, three owners

The Worm Stop has sat on the same corner by the boat launch for over thirty years — started by a guy who got tired of driving forty minutes for bait before sunrise, and figured half the lake felt the same way.

We've changed hands twice since, but the rule hasn't: bait gets checked every morning, and anything that's not lively gets pulled. If you've got a bad cup of worms, we want to hear about it.

How we keep it fresh

Three checks, every single morning

Bait is only as good as the fridge it came from — here's what happens before the doors open.

01

Overnight temp check

Every cooler and tank gets checked first thing — bait that's warmed up overnight doesn't go on the shelf.

02

Bedding & water change

Worm bedding and minnow tank water get refreshed daily, not just topped off.

03

Live count

We physically check activity in each container — anything sluggish gets pulled before it reaches the counter.

"Been buying nightcrawlers here since I was a kid with my dad. Still the only bait shop I trust before 6am."
